So honoured and excited
to be part of
Experience Collingwood’s Poets & Pics!

My Poem and Photo titled Me and My Shadow are in the exhibit ‘Collingwood’s Poets & Pics’, that’s displayed along Collingwood’s Train Trail for the month of April. This is in celebration of National Poetry Month.
There’s a total of 17 signs along this section of the trail. It starts at the Collingwood Museum (45 St. Paul Street) and ends at Collins Street.

If you are nearby, or going to be in the area, go, walk the trail and enjoy the series of poems and photographs exhibited!

Cold Is My Heart

September 5, 2019

Old House ~ Photo by Patrice

Cold is my heart
As I face the darkness
Brooding there
In the deep bottomless dark.

No remorse comes
To save me
No salvation
Takes my heart.

Just cold anger
Seething
Storming in my mind
Waiting to rip apart.

Anything
That dare face me
Stand and challenge
This coldness in my heart.

Running With Automatic Worldwide WP 5k

October 27, 2015

I have joined the Automatic Worldwide WP 5k and am going to commit to a 5k run each day from yesterday, Oct. 26th to Sunday, Nov. 1. It’s not that I’m an overachiever or anything, it’s just that on Nov. 4th, I’m having a cataract operation and have been told – No Exercise! – So, I’ll do as much as I can, while I can 😀

See you on the road, treadmill, pathways, anywhere there’s a 5k run in it!

Day 1

The first of the 5k Runs for the next week was done in the afternoon on a beautifully wooded, winding, moderately flat road. Along with my trusty running partner, Mr. Thor who’s stoked to be doing it too!!! And I should add, charted on RunKeeper.com

Day 2

My Second Day of the ‘Running with Automatic Worldwide WP 5k
was done on a treadmill
😦
It was late in the afternoon and didn’t have the light or time to go on the roads.

5k WP - Day 2 start

My trusty ‘Running Partner’ was there at my side once again.

The view was stationary but still lovely.

BUT!!!

I did have to pause to take a picture as my running on the treadmill gave a very distorted picture…

Then we were finished for that day!

😀

WP - 5k - Day 2 - Final reading

And the reading said it all.

5k or 3.10 miles done.

Completed.

Tomorrow is another day.

Another run.

Day 3

One more day, one more run on the treadmill.
Not my favourite, but just not nice out there. Tons of cold and wind, so the treadmill it is.
And the view isn’t that bad.

WP - 5k - Day3 - view from here

My dear, sweet running partner is out here with me!

And then we’ve Got’er Done!

WP - 5k - Day3 - time and milage

Til tomorrow.
😀

Day 4

Sadly, Day 4 is ANOTHER treadmill day
😦
It was dark outside and miserable.
So, treadmill it is
again.

WP - 5k - Day 4 - treadmill reading

No pictures of the view because it would just be black night.

Gratefully

My running partner was beside me all the way

🙂

Last day used Nov. 4/15

See you tomorrow – hopefully out on the road

🙂

Day 5

I Climbed To The Top Of The Sky

WP5k - Day5 -Looking Back Down

I climbed to the top of the sky
Came back down
Don’t know why.

Maybe to climb again
Share the time
Feel the view
See the height
The deep dark blue.

I climbed to the top of the sky
Looked around
Then
Came back down.

Who I Am – Why I’m Here – Part 4.

July 13, 2015

Study of hands and paint brushes ~ Illustration by Patrice for New Chalice Brushes

Months, maybe a year later I can’t recall, a friend was going thru a difficult time. She was lost, spiralling. I felt she needed something to hang onto, get herself steady, stabilized. See her way out of her troubles.

One morning it came to me… Why not post my affirmations, my poetry on my blog, accompanied by my art and photos? This could be a place where my friend could come daily. Maybe to be inspired to find solutions to her troubles, know she wasn’t alone.

So, that’s how my blog began and why I came to be here.

It is my hope my words, my art and photos will bring pleasure, enjoyment and inspiration to your life.

Who I Am – Why I’m Here – Part 3.

July 9, 2015

At the end of the workshop, to say thanks to my fellow journeyers, I made up postcards with a painting and an affirmation of mine on each.
Everyone in the group got their own unique card. One of the facilitators called to say thanks and said too, ‘You should do something with your poetry’.

Poetry?
I write poetry?

Who I Am – Why I’m Here – Part 2.

July 8, 2015

Sometime around then along with 4 or 5 other ladies, I attended a workshop called, The Artist’s Way. We were using Julia Cameron’s book by the same name.

The Artists Way Book by Julia Cameron

My purpose in going was to unlock the block I was and had been dealing with for years. To start painting again, not just hide, going in circles, accomplishing nothing. Spiralling into self-hate and depression.

To digress a little…

When I was a whole lot younger, I used to do what I called ‘Automatic Writing’. That meant I’d just start writing down whatever words I saw in my head. Not trying to figure out why I needed to write them down or where the thoughts came from. Just write.
My explanation then and now was that the words were coming from somewhere, someone who wanted, needed a voice. I became their channel.

The Artist Way workshop brought all this back and some. Not only showing me how to love myself but to write daily, expressing my feelings in multiple pages and at the end, Affirmations.

Life was good.

Who I Am – Why I’m Here – Part 1.

July 7, 2015

Last used July 7/15

I’m an artist. Have been all my life. Loving the drawing, painting of nature and feeling a connection to animal life.
People, not so much. People have issues. I have issues.

And that brings me to why I’m here.

At the urging of an acquaintance, I opened my blog. She was my first ‘Follower’ — just to encourage me to get out of my comfort zone and feel I was writing to someone, not just out to empty space. I thank her so much for her support then.

I believed a blog was a good place to show my art, my photos. Drive new customers to my website. But what made my blog any different from any other artist’s blog? What would make it unique? Me?

That was where I was stagnated. For months it sat there. Not a new post, not a new word.
