Living in the
Quiet
Listening to the solitude
Feeling all emotions
Surface.
Maybe tomorrow will be
Riotous
But for now living today
Where all is
Quiet.

Sun goes down
Into the evening sky
Leaving the moon to reflect it’s light
Into the water deep and blue
Turning it golden
Blood red too.
All is quiet in the evening sky
Birds ponder the reason why
As the sun now sinks
Beneath the ocean blue
Refreshing itself in waters deep, dark
Purely quiet too

When things calm down and all is quiet
The heart stirs with memories, feelings disquiet.
Hard to conceive what has happened
Hard to believe it is now reality.
Chest heaves, tears fall crying
In a crushing rain no one can believe.
Neither can anyone console
Or take this burdened load from you or me.
Yes, when all things are calm and the world seems quiet
The head, the heart are left feeling painfully disquiet.

Disaster could have happened
Tragedy could have fell
Heartache in the moment
So fast no one could tell
If the world was alright
Or descended into Hell.
Prayers were answered, lives spared
But the fear of danger will forever tear
At a heart beating rapidly
Frantic to get to safety
To get away, to be spared.
All is quiet now
Birds sing a happy song
And
Somewhere in the forest, a mother
Loves her fawn.

Our rottie attacked a fawn about the same size as him in our backyard this morning. Fortunately, we got to them before any harm was done and the fawn was reunited with it’s mother.
