I Know I’ve Been Lost

April 5, 2022
I Know I've Been Lost ~ Watercolour Painting by Patrice

I know
I’ve been lost
in the wilderness
of
low self esteem

Climbing out
has been hard
rocks, crevasses
unholy shards
pierce my skin, my life
my thoughts

Still I climb
I push, pull and shove
to
a glorious world
full of
grace, courage
and
self-love.

We Must Remember With Hearts Filled

November 11, 2017

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

We must remember with hearts filled
With emotion seeing the way

Those who fought for freedom
On this very day.

Somber moments seeking the truth
Listening heartbeats showing the route.

You battled in cold, fought in the dark
Never once saying no more, so far.

Onward, forward you did advance
Not thinking or fearing any consequence.

Battles are fought, some never won
But moments of glory reign
Showing the courage
Of our daughters, our sons.

Hold that courage proudly
You stood in the moment
You wear the battle scar.

All I can do is salute and give honour to
The brave soldier you are.

Anger Frustration, Darkness And Fear

July 22, 2016

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

Anger frustration
Darkness and fear.

They dwell here.

A moment ago
I drove them out
Back they came
Right back here.

Freedom to lose them
Freedom to be happy
Without anger, frustration
Darkness and fear.

No one to blame
No one to fear.

Muster the courage
Step out of the darkness
Step there to the place
We hold dear.

No anger, frustration
Darkness or fear.

Courage To Understand

December 15, 2014

Redheaded Woodpecker on a Snowy Day ~ Photo by Patrice

Courage
to understand.

Strength
to get it done.

Tolerance
to know
not everyone
is the same one.

Kindness
to guide
yourself and
those lost.

Awareness
to know when
and what.

Yourself

That’s all
it costs.

Let Me Honour You

November 11, 2014

Veteran's Poppy

Let me honour you
For your sacrifice, devotion and courage
Not afraid to die.

Let me honour you
For fighting for peace
And were willing to die.

Let me honour you
For the love of country
You battled, you died.

Let me honour you
Ones I loved
Who fought, who died.

Let me honour you
Fallen soldier
The brave who have died.

Not Sure Where I Stand

March 4, 2013

Grass in Winter ~ photo by Patrice

Not sure where I stand
Not sure where I’ll be
Deep, sad remorse
Consumes
And engulfs me.

Sadness reeks of sickness
Monsters creep
And crawl around
Head full of anguish
Somehow
I must hold my ground.

Back laden
With burdens pulling
Pulling good hearts
Down.

Grip the soft shoulder
Of kindness
Let her lift me up
Munster courage
That surrounds us
It will back me up.
