A Leaf Falls

October 27, 2020

A Leaf Falls ~ Photo by Patrice

A leaf falls
it’s life has come to a end
dropping down amongst other leaves
on a dead, barren ground.

A leaf falls
before air is awful cold
with frost foretelling things to come
darkness, winter, frozen bitter cold all day
then at night.

A leaf falls
it doesn’t care about the cold
it’s life has lived in warmth, breezes moist
hot atmosphere and now

A leaf falls
a life lived in full circle
from spring to early winter long.

I Know The Difference

June 3, 2019

Martin River Morning ~ Photo by Patrice

I know the difference
Between frozen and tropical land
I know light is not dark
And dark is not light.

I know the difference
Between morning and evening light
The difference is obvious
They are not alike.

But the in-between is hazy
Not easy to read
A conundrum it seems
For not darkness nor light.

Hidden Thoughts

July 25, 2018

Snow Blanket ~ Photo by Patrice

Hidden Thoughts, secret lives
Never brought to the light
Held in darkness, cruel and rude
Fester abscess, no solitude.

Bring forth, let go
Rise the sun, curtains blow
In a wind of purity
pure white as the snow.

Then their secrets, dark and cold
Are exposed, let go
To live in happiness
That only you can ever know.

Decisions

August 23, 2017

Making decisions
Some I don’t like
Making them in darkness
And board daylight.

Answering all questions
That’ll make things right
Make people believe in me
Today, tonight.

I don’t have all answers
Still decisions
Decisions will be made
By tonight.

Nocturnal living
Secret life
Moving thru the darkness
Ignoring a bright life.

Autumn’s Come

September 12, 2016

Fall Leaves ~ Photo by Patrice

Autumn’s come
Darkness reigns, life dying
As cold seeps in and leaves fall
Like a uncontrolled train.

Birds are flocking, salmon, trout
Fighting their way up rivers
Not seen since tiny river trout.

Young are grown
Grooming a thick winter coat
Bears sleepy fat, readying
For a long winter, that’s that.

Those staying loading caches
Their bountiful summer haul
Autumn’s come
We also call it fall.

Anger Frustration, Darkness And Fear

July 22, 2016

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

Anger frustration
Darkness and fear.

They dwell here.

A moment ago
I drove them out
Back they came
Right back here.

Freedom to lose them
Freedom to be happy
Without anger, frustration
Darkness and fear.

No one to blame
No one to fear.

Muster the courage
Step out of the darkness
Step there to the place
We hold dear.

No anger, frustration
Darkness or fear.

Feel It Well Up

October 2, 2014

Rainy Waterfall ~ Photo by Patrice

Feel it well up from beneath
See the voice have no speech
Know the darkness gives no harm
Then in a blink, its all gone.

Long Shadows Crease The Grass

March 3, 2014

Palm Tress in the Sunset ~Photo by Patrice

Long shadows crease the grass
Modifying bark on a watching tree
As sunlight fights
With the night all day long
Winning only in the morning bright.

Sleep at night
Feel the shadows
Creeping across the grass
Rising up
Holding darkness in it’s grasp.

Your heart is safe
Shadows will see to that.

Darkness Falls

January 28, 2013

Darkness falls
Covering all
That morning bright
Brought into
The glaring light.

Softness
Peaceful resting quest
Awaiting, waiting for
It to start all over
After a night time rest.
