I’ll take a stand
And hold still
No breath will breathe
No heart beat
Only sounds are my feet
Standing still, holding fast
Protecting all
That must now last.

Then the gull cries
Mustering forces
That heed that shrieking call
Not forlorn, not alone
I stand, holding still
Upright, strong and tall
We’re together
And together we will conquer all.

There In The Past

There in the past
Out beside the pine
Stands a lonesome
And forlorn task.

Not to be ignored
Not to be scorned
But resolutely accomplished
In a manner best suited
To the task.
