A leaf falls
it’s life has come to a end
dropping down amongst other leaves
on a dead, barren ground.
A leaf falls
before air is awful cold
with frost foretelling things to come
darkness, winter, frozen bitter cold all day
then at night.
A leaf falls
it doesn’t care about the cold
it’s life has lived in warmth, breezes moist
hot atmosphere and now
A leaf falls
a life lived in full circle
from spring to early winter long.

I know the difference
Between frozen and tropical land
I know light is not dark
And dark is not light.
I know the difference
Between morning and evening light
The difference is obvious
They are not alike.
But the in-between is hazy
Not easy to read
A conundrum it seems
For not darkness nor light.

Golden leaves swaying
On a November breeze
Floating, cascading down
Landing on soon to be
Frozen, winter ground.
Woods are silent, hushed, listening
To the still quiet as a hunter lurks
Waiting to kill in the midst
Of golden leaves falling, raining down
Upon barren, dying ground.

We are in a deep freeze
A deep, deep freeze
Cold does not cover what it is
Breath taken away
Frozen in a frigid atmosphere.
Those you hold dear
Should not be out or near
Frozen
Smother instead with warm
Blankets of unfrozen love.
Polar bear cold
Things are froze
No one knows how deep
Or long it will go
Don’t know.
Please no longer than a sleep
Let it creep back up
Let us experience heat
No more deep, deep freeze
Oh please some heat!
