I Heard The Wild Goose Call

November 11, 2022

Poppy in Remembrance ~ Photo by Patrice

I heard the wild goose call
I heard her plaintive tone.

I bowed my head in honour
Of all those left
Left alone.

On the field of war and anger
In the battle
No one wins alone.

I heard the wild goose call
Come
Come bring your brave soldiers home.

Uplifting A Life

July 24, 2018

Parasol Ants ~ Photo by Patrice

Uplifting a life, mine or another
Feeling less anger, strife
With each endeavour.

No one is perfect
No one lives on their own
We are all connected in life
Our world, nothing is alone.

Savour each leaf, honour an insect
Going about it’s business
Unbeknown to the beaver floating
In the creek.

We are all connected
We all need to be uplifting, loving
One another no matter
Our way of life, our beliefs.

There Was A Time When We Were Old

December 16, 2016

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

Old Farm ~ photo by Patrice

There was a time when we were old
We’d laugh and cry as life did unfold
No remorse for things gone by
Only clamour for a sweet
Haunting lullaby.

Ancient wrinkles on a child’s face
Laughing, crying filled with grace
No honour lost, no rushing pace
No deadline met, only loving grace
Masking love on a loving face.

In a time gone by we may have met
Laughed and cried, no heartache wept
What a wondrous thing
When we were young and therefore old
In a time when we spun together
Treasures made of gold.

I Can See The Words

November 4, 2016

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

I can see the words
They tell me of the time
When hearts were loved
And words all rhymed.

They tell me of the joy
The majesty and triumphant gladness
No casting of badness
No broken bones
Or hearts lost in a world
Filled with madness.

These words they fill the place
With love, beauty, grace
I accept the honour
Bestowed here upon me
Of seeing life with words that
Never conquer
Just for the sake of me.

Let Me Honour You

November 11, 2014

Veteran's Poppy

Let me honour you
For your sacrifice, devotion and courage
Not afraid to die.

Let me honour you
For fighting for peace
And were willing to die.

Let me honour you
For the love of country
You battled, you died.

Let me honour you
Ones I loved
Who fought, who died.

Let me honour you
Fallen soldier
The brave who have died.

The Day Is Bright

October 29, 2014

Fall Colours ~ Photo by Patrice

The day is bright
With promise from the night
Fills my heart, my eyes
Which see a future
That’s right and mine
To honour.

Conquer those demons
Who want to take it away
Stay in the light
Let those terrors, worries float away
Vanquished by the brightness
In this, the brightest of bright days.

I Struggle

April 24, 2013

I struggle with what I know
I struggle with life
A life I don’t know.

I struggle with honour
And a love to keep
Close to my heart.

I struggle never to weep
Or be lost in the depths
Of someone else’s heart.

I struggle here
I struggle there
Not knowing where to start.

Yes, I struggle
I do so struggle
Here within my head and heart.

Cheerful, Smile, See Life Full

November 30, 2012

First Snow and Sparrow ~ photo by Patrice

Cheerful, smile
See life full.

Laughter, kindness
Make it well rounded
Not only full.

Step forward
Embrace the heart felt
Honour you can bestow.

Take it in
And let it go.

Out to the world
Beautiful, marvellous
Bringing us together
Completed, full.
