Gently Lay The Burden Down

October 25, 2022
Gently Lay The Burden Down ~ Photo by Patrice

Gently
Lay the burden down
Caress it softly
Hear the ground moan quietly
From the weight you laid down

Feel no anger, no remorse
Your work is done
You’ve travelled the entire course
Now, you are the one
To show the way.

Not deviating
No
Not today.

Take Hold Of Me

October 24, 2022
Take Hold Of Me ~ Watercolour by Patrice

Take hold of me
And please hold tight

Protect, guide me
Through the darkest night

Let no harm come to me
Or those I love

This I ask, I ask of you
My sweet love.

I Am A Survivor

October 20, 2022

I Am A Survivor ~ Photo by Patrice

I am a survivor

I survived hatred, anger
things
that made me a victim

I am a survivor

I came through
growing into someone
who understands how it happened

I am a survivor

Only hurt, remorse for those
who inflicted that hatred
that anger

I am a survivor

Have moved forward
build a life full of love, generosity
no hatred, some anger

I am

I am a survivor.

Holding On, Holding Close

October 19, 2022
Holding On, Holding Close ~ Photo by Patrice

Holding on, holding close
all that I love and cherish
through
the darkest time.

Let us not be separated
or
hurt in anyway
any kind.

This I ask
I pray
to
the wondrous, great Divine.

Don’t Know

Don't Know ~ Photo by Patrice

Don’t know
where I’ve been
or
what I’ve done.

The truth
is

I believe
my life, my journey
has
just begun.

Hold Me Close

October 17, 2022
Hold Me Close ~ Photo by Patrice

Hold me close, hold me tight
help me understand
the goings on that happened
have changed
my life.

Let no word be spoken
in anger nor strife
let love begin to heal
the hurt, the pain in this
my only life.

No One Sees

October 12, 2022
No One Sees ~ Illustration by Patrice for B.C. Central Credit Union

No one sees
what
I need to see.

No one cares
if it’s good
or
just a necessity.

It’s left for me to decide
live with it
or cast all aside.

I Can

October 11, 2022
I Can ~ Photo by Patrice

I can see
but
can I understand?

The way the world turns
upside down
then
back up again?

Can I stand, stand straight
as it spins
never moving
from where I stand?

I can
oh yes, yes I can.

Holding Out, Holding Close

October 6, 2022
Holding Out, Holding Close ~ Photo by Patrice

Holding out, holding close
Thoughts of yesteryear

Knowing they arrived
Played out
And
Now have disappeared.

Reasons why, reasons known
I can’t decipher
I can’t cry out

All I know
they happened
They’re with me now

Till I leave this earth, till I too
Am no longer here.

I Remember

October 5, 2022
I Remember ~ Photo by Mom and Dad

I remember
when my heart was full
my eyes didn’t cry
my soul
my soul could go
anywhere and never die

I remember
I remember then.
