Memories come
Then
They pass
I ask the question
Did they really happen
Or
Was I in a dream
That wasn’t part
Of my past?
Memories vague
Sometimes
Vibrant as if they happened
Yesterday
Not long ago
In a distant, distant past.
I’ll remember, smile
And be
Reliving memories
Remembering
A past that was
Really me.

Long ago, far away
A heart was broke
He did not stay
To weep or cry
Nor brush sad tears away.
Crushed
A fool she thought
Then sat
Laughed
Brushed her own tears
Away.
No fool was she
No clown performing
For vacant love
He, he was the one
A fool for leaving
Not loving her.
He turned
He walked away
Never knowing what
He could have had
He walked away.
