In The Bowels Of Remorse

January 17, 2023
In The Bowels Of Remorse ~ Illustration by Patrice

In the bowels of remorse
heartbreak
and
deep unrelenting
sadness

Will strive
to come out
attempt to be happy
and
sane

Till that day
I’ll hear that sweet
sad
melancholy reframe

Playing
playing over and over
and
over
over again.

Melancholy

October 16, 2019

Melancholy ~ Photo by Patrice

Melancholy raining, dripping down
No obvious reason can be found
Spreading cross the quiet landscape
Resting briefly on a innocent face
Then running down
On tears of those lost, wandering round.

Maybe someday a bright sun will shine
Dark, foreboding clouds pass
Dissipate and show guiding lights
Til then only melancholy
Can be found
Reigning so profound.

Seasons Of Life

October 11, 2017

Fall Flowers ~ Photo by Patrice

I feel the sadness, the dying life
Into hibernation
No movement til the unfrozen
Comes back, springs to life.

Melancholy knowing
The ground will hold still
Covered in snow
And frozen ice.

Through cycles of the land
Eons of living life
The world changes showing
Birth, growing, living, dying
In seasons of life.

Regrets, None

October 11, 2013

Snowy Corn Fields ~ photograph by Patrice

Regrets, none
That I get.

Morose, you know
You bet.

Melancholy, hoping
Hoping for the best.

Settle, settle not
Go get.

Don’t, don’t forget
It’s your day.

Make it, make it
With no regrets.

Sometimes Sadness Falls

September 4, 2013

Sometimes sadness falls
So far
Desperately need not
Feel that scar
Sadness
Melancholy breeding
Gaining ground.

Spreading out
Seeping deep
Within the psychic far
Oh so far around.

Trembling lips reach out
Grabbing, holding on
No hollow
Shallow victory
But a life
Maybe gone.

Tears stream down
Wanting, wailing cheeks
Splattering near
And on hardened ground
No soft tender place Golden in Trouble ~ illustration by Patrice for Dogs in Canada Magazine
To be found.

Hold yourself together
Hold yourself
Up to the light
For even if sadness falls
Make it you who decides
On which kind
A loving
Or hardened ground.

Peel Back The Layers

August 12, 2013

Road and Rail Fence ~ photo by Patrice

Peel back the layers
Feel the bad ooze out
Permeating the glad
Spreading like a plague
Full of anguish
Making good things bad.

Sadness too comes along
Melancholy through
And through
Raising no gladness
To the sky
Only morose sadness
Lonely, standing by.

You are right
You are good
To let the layers lie
Just as they should
In their own
Forsaken lullaby.

Nothing gained
Nothing lost
To let badness scuttle off
Please leave those layers
Let them stay
Don’t peel them
Off.

The World Is A Better Place

January 3, 2013

The world is a better place
Because of you
And a saving grace
That which is embedded
In each and every place
we chose to live and grow.

See your place now filled
with melancholy lavender
And smell the fragrance
As you sink into that special space
Embraced by a living
Loving, saving grace
Knowing, this is a better place
The best place in this world
Only, because of you.

A Monster Lives Deep Beneath

October 25, 2011

A monster lives deep beneath
Surging up with saddened grief
Making all ponder where to go
Melancholy persons reaching out
Filled with disbelief that
No remorse can ever share
Feel me now feeling bad
Fill me up with sadness glad
A monster lives deep within
Changing color on a whim.
