I Saw A Firefly

June 1, 2023
I Saw A Firefly ~ Photo by Patrice

Last night I saw a firefly
it lit up
the whole damn sky.

Yes, last night
a tiny fly radiated light
made
a bit of darkness bright.

Last night when I saw a firefly.

I Have Heard

May 31, 2023
I Have Heard ~ Photo by Patrice

I have heard
and
know
I have to be
the sweetest person
I ever can be.

Why?
you ask

Why
this has to be?

Cause the Creator
says
this is best for the world
and
of course
little
old me.

What I Think And What I Tell

What I Think And What I Tell ~ Photo by Patrice

What I think
And
What I tell
Big difference
I’m sure
You as well.

Somethings are meant
To be left in the dark
Not spoken of
Not given a chance
To step out
And
Stomp on
A frail, fragile heart

For All I Know

May 26, 2023

Lioness ~ Photo by Patrice

For all I know
It could be not a thing
In a abyss of something.

For all I know
I’m not here.

For all I know
This is a dream
I’ve dreamt before.

But who keeps score
No one
For all I know.

My Heart’s Memories

May 24, 2023
My Heart's Memories ~ Photo by Patrice

My Heart does break
My soul knows
The past has gone
It exists
No more.

Times remembered
Times
From long ago past
Have faded in my memory
But
I thought
They’d last and last.

The land has covered
Over
The lane we used to walk
Trees died
Their stark bodies bent
Cracking in the wind
While bushes have overgrown
Where happiness
Should’ve been.

Surrounded
By empty, barren fields
Flourishing weeds covering in
What used to be
Fertile land growing crops
That
Nurtured creatures
Way back then.

Only memories
Now
Only fading memories
Of what was but not now
Or
Ever again.

I went back after several years, to the place where I grew up.
The place where I had many happy times and wonderful memories.

I was overwhelmed to see what time has done.

I’ll Live

May 23, 2023
I'll Live ~ Photo by Patrice

I’ll be the best
I can be.

Nothing
Else matters
Nothing is as important
Important
As
This to me.

Sometimes
I get lost
Sometimes I lose my way
Then a light
A bright light glows
Leading me on my path
My own sweet way.

Know

Know ~ Photo by Patrice

I know, you know
We know

Know what you say?

The truth, the way
That’s what I think, I hope
We know today.

Times Once Been

Times Once Been ~ Photo by Patrice

Gone are the times once been
Memories only
That’s what I know, I’ve seen.

No more to be
Those moments
Memories
Those times once been.

To Do

May 9, 2023
To Do ~ Photo by Patrice

No one can tell me
What to do

My heart, my mind
My dear
It’s up to you

Whether I listen
Whether it’s the right thing
To do

I don’t know
But
It’s up to me

To do
The best thing
I think I should do.

Bright Beautiful, Sunny Day

Deer watching ~ Photo by Patrice

A deer came by my window
She stopped. looked me in the eye
She flicked her tail, twitched her ear
As she listened for danger near by
Then on down the path she went
No longer seen by me
Disappearing into the woods
On this bright beautiful, sunny day.

A few minutes later as I was off to run
There she lay, mortally injured
Unable to run
She heard my voice, so near, so close
Her tail flicked, her ears twitched
She tried once again to run
But her eyes were closed
Nothing worked and there she lay
Dying slowly, dying
On this bright beautiful, sunny day.

A woman in a big Ram truck
Slowed up just to pass the time of day
Not seeming to notice
A deer dying, on the side of the road
Nor if I had called the police
I had, they came, they put her away
