A Robin Wings Her Way South

November 16, 2018

A robin wings her way south

Buffeting winds

That may drive her off course

Today undaunted

She stays focused on her way

Though wind, rain and snow

She goes to the place

Where the sun glows heat

And where she stays

Til its time once again

To fly north

With all her family and friends.

Rain

May 11, 2017

Thunder Clouds ~ Photo by Patrice

Clouds thunder
Making sounds that whack
Fearful people shiver
Their hearts pierced
By a cold, wet spear
Dark black clouds blow
Souls washed away
In a heartless, driving rain.

Find shelter, find strength
Hold out your hand
Feel instead a soft gentle rain
No sounds course thru
Clouds white, fluffy
Surrounded in blue
Only a spatter of rain.

You are alright
You’ll grow
With this soft, nurturing rain
The sun, it’ll shine
Shine once again
After the rain.

Rain Falls

August 15, 2016

Summer Torrent of Rain ~ Photo by Patrice

Rain, rain falls
Rain stays washing, watering
All that seeks its life-giving ways
Dripping, dropping from the sky
Soaking, watering all that is so dry
As thanks is raised in arms outstretched
Blessing drops that give life back
To a land parched
Near the throes of death.

Rain, Pouring Rain

September 16, 2014

Spring Rain ~ Photo by Patrice

Rain, pouring rain, cold, colder still
Chills falling, falling down again
Winter’s come, pass the fall
Summer’s gone, we’ve missed it all.

One thing we can do
Is pray for spring, feel the dew
Then summer’s warmth will arrive
Holding us, in her arms once again.

Then The Rain

July 1, 2014

Blooms in a Storm ~ photo by Patrice

Then the rain came falling down
Sparks of water splashing on the ground
Feeding life to all beings found
Resting only in between showers pouring
Raining down
Soaking up the fallen down.

Drip, Drop Of Rain

August 7, 2013

Banana Palm ~ photo by Patrice

Drip, drop of rain
Falling down
Rushing thru the drain
Life is sometimes like
Falling rain
A mediocre time turned
To all desired, wanted
Coming down like rain.

Once again
Listen
To the drip, drop
Of quiet summer rain.

Feel it’s vibrance change
The ordinary
To a spectacular refrain
This I know
As I listen to that rain
You’ll never ever
Ever be the same.

The Drinks Go Down

May 27, 2013

Iris photo by Patrice

The drinks go down
In the hummingbird feeder
As the sun warms the sky
Grass blows on a breeze
Destined to bring rain
To the evening’s brilliant blue sky.

All seems right
All seems as it should be
No sight of anger
Or struggle to combat.

Just a spring day
Over coming all that.

Drip, Drip Of Falling Rain

April 10, 2013

Water and Iguana ~ photo by Patrice

Drip, drip of falling rain
Settles deep down the drain.

Is my life like that rain?

Have I flushed myself away?

Can I grasp strands of grace, gratitude
Interspersed with love
Pulling up myself to stay
in a world not only to survive
But live a life
Where I don’t want to die.

Thunder Rushes Full Speed Ahead

May 3, 2012

Thunder rushes full speed ahead
Crashing, banging
Leaving dread all around.

Down to ground lighting speeds
Flashing, crashing
Creating dread all around.

Rain pours all over ground
Soaking, pouring dread
As it rains down.

A storm has come
Crashing, flashing, pouring down
Leaving dread all around.
