The Sun Shines Bright

August 26, 2022

River Beauty ~ Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
Mists have blended
Into the water beyond
No one sees bees
No bats fly
In the expanse that surrounds

Nor does anyone hear
The cry
They’re gone, they’re gone

I rest, I sleep
Maybe there I’ll see
And
Seek a world that once here
Belonged.

Not Asking For Forgiveness

September 18, 2019

Palm Tree in Blue Sky ~ Photo by Patrice

Not asking for forgiveness
Not saying I am right
Just living life to the fullest
Able to rest, to sleep tonight.

Sleepless Night

August 1, 2019

Study of hands and paint brushes ~ Illustration by Patrice for New Chalice Brushes

Sleepless night
Bringing early morning light
Restful peace eluding senses
Throughout the dark
The long, question filled night.

No answers come
Only questions filling, swirling
Round my exhausted mind
No time to sleep, to rest
To dream of better times.

Deep In The Rest

June 28, 2019

Deep in the rest of sleep tonight
My soul does dream so vividly
Life is full, time is dear
Honoured by those held so near.

I awaken rested, never knowing
Time has passed
Troubles solved and circumstance
Seems not to be the threat I feared
So horribly.

No one drew or threw a veil
Upon my sight
Just goodness does
And will prevail.

I slumber now in perfect rest
No concern, no distress
Awakening to light cascading down
Upon my life where goodness
Does and will abound.

Words

May 16, 2019

Classic Car ~ Illustration by Patrice for B.C. Central Credit Union

I go to write
Listening for the words to form
Pictured in my mind they come
They take their form
On the page they rest
Now said, now wrote.

I thank the presence
That brought them to my mind
Formed the thoughts to convey
And then
Without another word
Quietly slipped away.

Let Me Sleep

August 1, 2018

Sleeping Cougar ~ Photo by Patrice

Let me sleep
Let me be the person
I need
And want to be.

Rest
Deeply sleep
Dream
And be oh so happy.

Vacant Thought

June 15, 2016

Vacant thought
Vacant lot in life
Not necessarily made totally right
By coming of night
Nor glorious morning light.

Sometimes best
To let the mind be at peace
To rest, vacant of any racing kind
Only tranquility residing
In a quiet mind,

Vacant
Of all troubling thoughts
No racing
Racing thru a night, a day, a life
A mind.

The Sun Shines Bright

Winter's Lane ~ Photo by Patrice

The sun shines bright
As the wind blows quiet like
The atmosphere breathes a restful breath
Eyes closed in winter rest.

Let me take it in
Feel warmth following the light
To a time when the sun shines
Even in the evening night.
