The ultimate gift.
I thank you
for my freedom,
for my right to live
and choose.
If not for unselfish giving
and bravery beyond
we’d not be here today
and have that right to choose.
I bow my head
and thank you
for your service far beyond
and show my gratitude
for all those
that have gone.

We are lucky, we are trained
To live life as if we’re not insane.
No one knows for sure
Nor has one the right
To live life thinking
All will be perfect, be alright.
Take the misery
The sadness and the lame
Take them to a happy place
Or leave them
For someone else to claim.
No heart is pure
Without regret
No life is lived
Without some sadness put into it.
We are lucky, we are trained
