The sun shines bright
Mists have blended
Into the water beyond
No one sees bees
No bats fly
In the expanse that surrounds
Nor does anyone hear
The cry
They’re gone, they’re gone
I rest, I sleep
Maybe there I’ll see
And
Seek a world that once here
Belonged.

Sleepless night
Bringing early morning light
Restful peace eluding senses
Throughout the dark
The long, question filled night.
No answers come
Only questions filling, swirling
Round my exhausted mind
No time to sleep, to rest
To dream of better times.

Deep in the rest of sleep tonight
My soul does dream so vividly
Life is full, time is dear
Honoured by those held so near.
I awaken rested, never knowing
Time has passed
Troubles solved and circumstance
Seems not to be the threat I feared
So horribly.
No one drew or threw a veil
Upon my sight
Just goodness does
And will prevail.
I slumber now in perfect rest
No concern, no distress
Awakening to light cascading down
Upon my life where goodness
Does and will abound.

Sadness day yesterday
Nothing wrong just felt
An overwhelming sad song
Playing havoc in my head
All day long.
Weeping, sleep could not keep
Me from that wrong song
All I could hear was that
Overwhelming sad song
Playing, weeping in my heart
Throughout the day
All day long.
Maybe today that song
That sad song
Will be forever gone
All day long.

Morning glory surely rides
On the tide of morning rise
Sleep was sound
Resting peacefully all around
Now we raise our presence
To the morning sun
Boldly moving in a direction
That will free us in
The morning glory sun.

Pass thru the night
Can I get some sleep
Some more sleep tonight?
1 a.m., 2 a.m.
3 a.m.
And then some snore.
4 a.m., 5 a.m.
What a chore.
Can or should
I sleep
Some more?
6 a.m., 7 a.m.
There’s not
A chance
I’ll sleep
Not even
Once more.
Pass thru
The night
Hope to sleep
And snore.

Snow is falling softly
gently down upon a cold
Hard bitter ground
Unforgiving in this season angry
As we struggle to be warm.
Quietly snow covers all
That harsh, hard cold
Making soft and warm it seems
This landscape filled with cold.
Blanket all the world
In white beauty bold
There til spring
The ground does sleep
While we wait for warmth
To unfold.
Springing forth in vibrant colour
Joyous singing can be heard
May we rest in quiet winter
Tucked beneath a blanket white
Waiting for spring to tell us
This is the time to spring to life.
