Spring

April 7, 2022
Last used April 7/22

I feel
The flesh of my skin
Warming
To the now coming
Spring

I see
My legs run
Across a path
Laden with flowers
Beauties of
Spring

I hear
A call echoing thru
my chest
Of geese making their flight
To reaches north
In the now here
Spring

No more
To wonder
No more to wish
My body knows winter is lost
Chased away
By beautiful, glorious
Spring.

The Snow Comes

November 3, 2021
The Snow Comes ~ Watercolour by Patrice

The snow comes
It does blow
Winter’s breath is cold
Cold

Cold

In the spring
Blizzards are forgotten
With the dawning of warmth
And
The beauty
Growing flowers bring

Melting into summer
Hot, humid
Splashing in warm water
Watching waves wash
To and fro

Fall doesn’t matter
For it seems dying
Is
The main thing

But

Really nothing dies
Only preparing
For a long hibernation
That winter winds
Will
Soon bring.

Leaves Falling

November 2, 2021
Falling Leaves ~ Photo by Patrice

Leaves falling
Leaving all the ground
Covered
With
A quiet sound.

Breezes
Stirring leaves
Here and there
Falling from branches
Now left bare.

Thru the winter
All quietens down
Passing storms bring
The only sound
Of
Branches cracking
Blowing down.

In the spring
Life will come
Bright and warm
On
Into summer’s sun.

Til
Full circle in the fall
Once again
We’ll see
Leaves fall.

Words Of Praise

September 28, 2021
Words Of Praise ~ Photo by Patrice

I do write
I don’t sing
Praises
Of the sun, the moon
Nor spring.

The words are written down
One letter at a time
Maybe
In the future someone will
Sing
These words of praise
I bring.

Til then
They’ll stay
In my book, on my page
Written to be read
These words of praise.

Leaves Turn Brown

September 16, 2021
Last used Sept. 16/21

The leaves turn brown from green
Last gasp of summer it seems
Leaving it’s presence on the ground
No more to be
Til the harsh winds of winter blow
And bring
A pleasant, delightful renewing spring.

Cold drips
It wains
Sun warms

If you stand on a tall hill
You can see them
Plain.

Wondrous

November 18, 2020

 Wondrous ~ Photo by Patrice

I’ve heard, I have seen
Things so wondrous
Just can’t believe.

Trees growing
living being coming to life
in the spring
bearing fruit summer
in between falls to winter
when they seem to be
sleeping.

One wonder to behold
to be seen
may be ordinary
but
if you stop, look and listen
miraculous it will become
wondrous it will seem.

The sky is beauty
Flowers be
The most beautiful
Anyone could ever see.

Summers’ come
It’s weaving a warm, soft web
Enveloping all spring’s brought
From winter’s dread.

Grass Grows Up

May 1, 2019

Baby Robins ~ Photo by Patrice

Grass grows up
From falling spring rain
As nutrients blend
Into earth parched cold
From winter’s freezing reign.

Optimistic and hopeful
Flowers bud
Unfurl
To warm sun rays.

Babies of all kinds born
Guarded lovingly by
Mothers, fathers working tirelessly
Feeding open mouths
Sometimes hard to attain.

Spring has come
The air is full
With a sweet, melodic refrain.

There I Am

April 19, 2019

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

Rising Fiddle Head ~ Photo by Patrice

There I am in my robe
Watching closely as the earth disrobes
All it’s ugly, nasty things
Rising up in beauty
Filled with summer and with spring.
Winter’s cold, bitter hate
Melted here, no distaste
Only warm, fulfilling beams
Creating more lovely dreams.

Bless the ground I stand upon
Know it gives me faith true and strong
Trusting I’ll be here long after
Spring flowers fade and go
But memories of what has been
Or yet to come
Will hold my own sheltering robe so tight
That I know I will be safe
On earth’s soft ground tonight.
