Today I remember
Someone
Great to me.
Someone
Who gave me life
And is forever
Part of me.
Someone
Who took the time
And began the task
Of making me, me.
Someone
Wise and talented
Knowing when
To be still
And when to be.
Someone
Whose life
Was not often easy
But she accepted
The task
And made it be
What it must be.
That someone
Was my mother
Someone
Always great to me.
I miss you and remember
You’ll always be
Someone
Great to me.

Not to be ignored
Not to be scorned
But resolutely accomplished
In a manner best suited
To the task.
