Saw my heart filled
With love
And yours with such cold
Not caring bold disdain.

I wasn’t told
You’d soon depart
Or how I’d be shattered
Blown apart.

It seems it doesn’t matter
For that’s what you expect
When the heart
Is torn, ripped away.

Not sure why
I didn’t cry or follow
You out the door.

Instead I closed my heart
Denying for a time
That I wished
You would have stayed.

But now I wait and hope
And pray
That you’ll come back
Someday, someday.

You wait and hope
My heart will open
And let you
Back in.

I cannot see how
It will ever be
So much has passed
So much
I can’t let go.

My heart was open
Once to only you
You trudged across
Careless cold.

Now you must
Wait and hope
That is what
You can do.
