Let Me Be, Let Me See

October 9, 2019

Let me be, let me see

All the magic unfolding

Here in front of me

Let no one say

I didn’t laugh or cry

In the face of yesterday

Maybe then

I’ll be happy

In spite of all I think

I’ll never be

Today.

So Much To Say

September 16, 2019

So much to say
So little paper to write it
All out
What so many people are talking
Laughing, talking about.

Suffice to say
When I find that scrap of paper
Filed somewhere
Yesterday
I’ll laugh, I’ll cry.

Because even then
I know there’s been
So much to say
So little paper to write it
All out.

Farther Away Yesterday

February 20, 2019

The farther I go
The farther away
I get from
What has happened
Yesterday.

Seeking no remorse
Nothing to say
All is in the past
That I did
Yesterday.

Maybe tomorrow
When I’m farther away
Maybe then
I’ll understand the past
All that happened
Yesterday.

I Live In The Past

February 12, 2019

Model T on the hill ~ Photo by Patrice

I live in the past
I see those days
I hear that heartbeat
Unable to make
Those old thoughts
Go away.

But

Not all sadness I feel
For joy and gladness
Support me today
I know I had, had it all
In the life I lived
Yesterday.

Have You Seen Optimistic?

December 7, 2018

Patrice Clarkson's Blog

Jackal ~ Illustration by Patrice for Holt, Rinehart and Winston's reader, 'Flights Near And Far'

Have you seen optimistic?
Where, oh where could she be?
At one time she was here
Right beside of me.

She kept me company
Laughed and made me see
The happy, caring way
Just what I need.

But yesterday
She left, she left me
Have you seen optimistic?
If you do, please tell me.

Today Or Yesterday

June 8, 2018

No makeup on today
Or yesterday
Skin festering, itching burning
Hives have made their way
Onto my face, my neck
Above my heart
Everywhere it seems
Gasping for some respite
Scratched raw
Went seeking help
Not once but twice
Yesterday.

The world has turned again
For today
I have my peace, my rest
Skin reduced to normal
Not like yesterday
On rising this morning, today
No more itching
Scratching
Like yesterday.

Yesterday

Misty ~ Watercolour Painting by Patrice

This day is today
It’ll be tomorrow
Yesterday.

Can’t live without it
Yet see it pass away
Becoming a time in
Yesterday.

No longer tomorrow
Now today I’m living
Yesterday.
